Catherine King wrote Victorian and Edwardian novels, inspired by her family history and the area of South Yorkshire where she grew up.  A search for her roots; her father, grandfather and great-grandfather all worked with coal, steel or iron, and an interest in local history provided inspiration for her stories. Her second novel, Silk and Steel, was shortlisted for the Romantic Novel of the Year Award.
